Adam Farris Director’s Commendation Award Winner

Honored to Receive the 2020 Director’s Commendation Award from Art Spark Texas

I am truly humbled and honored to share that I was awarded the 2020 Director’s Commendation Award by Art Spark Texas. This recognition means so much to me, not only as an advocate, but as someone who believes deeply in creating a world where every individual’s unique abilities are valued and celebrated.

I want to give a huge thank-you and shout-out to my friend Joe from the Tourette Association of America for nominating me, as well as Bud Collier from I’m Bully Free and Robin Rettie for their incredible support. I’m grateful to each of you for believing in my mission and for standing beside me throughout my advocacy journey.

What Art Spark Texas Shared About My Work

Art Spark Texas described why this award was given, and I am proud to share their words:

“The 2020 Director’s Commendation is given to an artist with a disability living in Texas who, through their tireless advocacy, represents the inclusive world that Art Spark Texas works to create every day. Adam Farris, through his volunteer work with the Tourette Association of America, works every day to create awareness of this misunderstood condition. Wanting to do something to raise awareness of Tourette and other disabilities, Adam founded Younique Abilities to market handmade autism awareness merchandise by artists with disabilities, through his online portal. For his dedication to highlight and promote the accomplishments and creativity of individuals who have unique abilities, Adam Farris is awarded the 2020 Director’s Commendation.”

Receiving this award reminds me why I continue to advocate, speak, and create spaces where people with disabilities—and unique abilities—can shine. I’m grateful to Art Spark Texas for this meaningful recognition and for all they do to uplift artists across the state.

Thank you for celebrating this milestone with me. I look forward to continuing this journey of spreading awareness, kindness, and empowerment every single day.
