World Autism Acceptance Month Houston, Texas #adamfarris #autismawarenessmonth
In 2021, Adam Farris had the honor of speaking before Houston City Council to advocate for the empowerment and inclusion of individuals with Autism. World Autism Acceptance Month is observed from April 1st to April 30th, 2023. As an Autism Advocate, Adam Farris extends his heartfelt thanks to Mayor Sylvester Turner for his unwavering support throughout the years. Mayor Turner has consistently dedicated time and resources to meet with Adam and work toward shared goals that support the autism community. Adam advocates not only to raise awareness about Autism but to empower others with Autism and unique abilities. His message is clear: If you have Autism, you can pursue that dream job, earn that degree, and achieve whatever you set your mind to. Believe in yourself and strive to reach your full potential! According to the CDC’s Autism and Developmental Disabilities Monitoring (ADDM) Network, approximately 1 in 36 children has been identified with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). Adam Farris reminds us: “Let us celebrate the Abilities, not the disABILITIES of each individual with autism.” There’s no single way to be autistic—each person experiences it differently. But together, individuals with autism contribute to our communities, our workforce, and our world. They deserve to live, learn, and thrive in an environment free from bullying and discrimination. Today and every day, we honor the achievements, dignity, and rights of all individuals on the autism spectrum. Adam Farris also extends his gratitude to Mayor Sylvester Turner and Councilwoman Amy Peck for recognizing his advocacy efforts. He has proudly received proclamations declaring April as Autism Awareness Month in 2016 through 2023.
