Then my life changed By Adam Farris
I was diagnosed with Tourette Syndrome at 4 years old. I was scared, frightened, worried that I was forever going to be an outcast. For years, when kids laughed, I imagined they were laughing directly at me. Sometimes they made fun of me and called me “tick boy” or “ticket.” Sometimes they decided to kick, punch, and spit on me.
Then my life changed.
"After coming home with bruises on my face from being beat up at school, I walked in the front door and heard my little sister reciting a quote, “Forget the past. Ignore the future. Focus on the present. Stay strong." I had an epiphany moment and decided I was going to stand up for myself. I was going to be confident and embrace my Tourette's, not let them hold me back. It was the best decision I ever made." -anonymous
